1964 : The Year That NZ Music Came Of Age. A year that saw us exporting our music to the USA, Canada, Europe and Australia. For the first time the percentage of locally written music was over 20% and climbing. While the Beatles were invading New Zealand, Ray Columbus & The Invaders, Dinah Lee and Max Merritt & His Meteors & Bill and Boyd were invading Australia. Weekly TV shows 'In The Groove' and 'Let's Go' continued to showcase our burgeoning young music scene. You can now re-live this exciting year through this 70 track, 28 page ephemera laden expose of the Kiwi Music Scene of 1964, which is the sixth volume in this ongoing series of year by year CD's chronicling Kiwi music.back to top
