The album went to number 20 on the Billboard 200 and also heralded a return to the pop charts, when the uptempo, keyboard-heavy title track, "Headed for the Future" reached #53 (also cracking the top 10 on the Adult Contemporary chart). Another single, "The Story of My Life" narrowly missed the top ten on the adult contemporary charts and has since become one of Neil Diamond's best-known and well-respected songs.
